Goodbye 2017! Hello 2018

Goodbye 2017! Hello 2018

This has been one of the most exciting, magical and blessed years of my life. We started 2017 off in my favourite place in the world, my place of birth, Cape Town and are ending it off halfway across the world in the South of France. 2017 you have been a year filled of chasing dreams, checking adventures off our bucket list and following our hearts. By the grace of God we have achieved more than we could ever have dreamed of. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to explore so much of this beautiful world we live in. Thank you for giving me the courage to chase my dreams. Thank you for the lessons I have learned along the way. Thank you that I am able to do this all with the person I love most by side! Goodbye 2017! Hello 2018.

Cape Town: Goodbye 2017! Hello 2018

3 things that 2017 has taught me

1. Travelling is a blessing

This past year has been a whirlwind, experiencing new and exciting places while making a lifetime of memories. We’ve done island hopping through Greece, sailed through the Adriatic while exploring Croatia, Oktoberfest in Germany, strolled the streets of Rome, explored Barcelona and even Trondheim in Norway. We have seen more places than we ever could have dreamed of in such a short space of time.

But the lessons we’ve learned, friends we’ve made and the new experience we’ve gained along the way are more important than the destinations we’ve been to. This opportunity to travel is something that we’ve come to realise is a huge blessing. There are so many people who would love to travel but don’t have the means to. It’s something that I will never take for granted.

2. Family is everything

The christmas season is family time of the year. While I unfortunately will not be with my family this christmas, I am eternally grateful for the support and love that they have given me ALWAYS but especially this year.

Without their unconditional love I don’t know where I would be. The bond we share is one that could never be broken and that’s what makes these relationships so incredible. Family is EVERYTHING and this is something that I come to realise more each day!

3. Live in the moment

Wherever you are, be there! It’s so easy to get sucked into a fantasy world and daydreaming about the future. We live in an age of distraction and it’s important to not let the present moment slip away, allowing time to rush past unobserved and unseized. If your mind is constantly on what you want to do in the next weeks, months or years you will miss out on the here and now. This past here has made me realise how important it is to slow down, breathe and cherish the moments that I am in.

We have so many amazing things planned for the future and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us for the next year. We are more than ready to say Goodbye 2017! Hello 2018. 2018 we welcome you with open arms, you are bound to be the best year yet! May everyone be celebrating the next chapter with loud music, champagne, sparkles and love!

Sending Love and Light

xx
