Winter Christmas

3 of the best experiences of a winter Christmas

This is my absolute favourite time of year. Christmas is a time for family, love and gratitude. I love the winter Christmas spirit and all the festivities that come with it. I love the the Christmas carols, the lights, the decorations, people coming together and the feelings of joy and goodwill.

The festive season this year is a bittersweet time for me. This will be the first Christmas that I am spending away from my family back in South Africa but this has been a year filled with chasing dreams and too many blessings to count. So many doors have been opened for Peter and I this past year. Nothing has been more true than this verse from Luke 11:9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened to you”. I have nothing but thanks to give!

We are embracing a completely different Christmas this year, a winter one! While half way across the world, in London! There is something so authentic and beautiful about a winter Christmas. Snow angels, hot chocolate and woolie jumpers all come to mind. No matter which part of the world I’m in this will always be a special time of the year.

Winter Wonderland: Winter Christmas

3 of my favourite things about a winter Christmas

1. Christmas Markets

There is no better way to get into the Christmas spirit than browsing around the best Christmas markets while sipping on Mulled wine and devouring delicious food. The festive season in Europe brings about the most magical time of the year where markets are filled with people celebrating the festive season and the winter weather adds to the enchanted feeling of Christmas.

2. Outdoor activities

From ice rinks to pop up villages and festive lights to rooftop cinemas, the sheer amount of activities that come up over the Christmas season are endless. You are bound to get caught up in all the Christmas cheer with all the new and exciting events that take place at this time of year.

3. Snow

Not only is it pretty but it also creates the atmosphere for a typical “White Christmas”. There is something so magical about the first snowfall and there is nothing quite like sitting indoors, next to your sparkling Christmas tree while sipping on hot chocolate and watching the snowfall.

I am a summer baby and sunshine lover but I have found the magic of Winter in the festive season.

Wishing everyone a magical Christmas, celebrating the birth of our saviour – Jesus Christ, complete with togetherness, reflection and feelings of peace and joy!

Love and Light always

xx
